The Callaway Magna and its successor Max are larger than a 'normal' golf ball and that is allowed according to the rules of golf! According to Callaway, a larger golf ball makes it easier to get the ball in the air. Makes sense: it is easier to hit the ball under the center of gravity (CG) if it is larger. It's like hitting the golf ball off a tee in the fairway. So Callaway simply made the Supersoft, which is already a wonderful and popular golf ball, a little bigger. The core, cover, number of dimples and weight are therefore completely the same. Not heavier because that is not allowed according to the rules! According to Callaway, the Magna and Max are especially suitable for the novice golfer and for players with a slower swing speed. A larger golf ball provides more drag in the air and therefore less distance. But this loss is more than compensated for by better ball contact. Which I think is a logical thought because poor ball contact leads to less distance.
